Tested But Blessed – Matthew 5:10-12
May 5, 2024
Hello Kingdom Family,
Welcome to our warm and inclusive Jesus-centered community. We are truly delighted that you have chosen to listen to today’s message.
Our purpose statement is “We are People Helping People Experience a Jesus-centered Life.”
This eight-week series examines the most famous ever given, The Sermon on the Mount, by none other than Jesus himself. Jesus’s audience was the outcasts of his day, and they were the first to engage this incredible message and design for living. We will unpack the nine Beatitudes presented by Jesus. It’s a series you don’t want to miss. Today, we unpack Matthew 5:10-12 and look at what it means to be persecuted, mocked, lied about, all for doing what is “right” in a Jesus-centered way. Despite the hardship, doing what is “right” can deliver, and we can be rewarded beyond our imagination in heaven.
We explore what is “right” as it relates to the latest changes inside the United Methodist Church as it relates to gay marriage and the ability for gay clergy to be licensed and ordained. Does it have to be either this or that, or is there a third way, a Jesus-centered way?
Questions to ponder:
1. What does it mean to do what is “right?” How can we know what the “right” thing is to do?
2. What does it mean to what is “right” from the Biblical definition?
3. How can we be rewarded for being persecuted, mocked, and lied about?
4. Why must we do what is “right” to be rewarded? Are there eternal consequences?
5. What does it mean to what is “right” to you? Why is it life-changing?
“The good life is for those who do what is “right”, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.” Below is the Bible Project podcast link referenced in the message and throughout this message series.
