Out With The Old & In With The New – New Year’s Eve Sermon 2023
December 31, 2023
Hello Kingdom Family,
Welcome to our Jesus-centered community. We are glad you are listening to today’s message.
Our purpose statement is “We are People Helping People Experience a Jesus-centered Life.”
In today’s message, we unpack 2 Corinthians 5:16-21 and discover how to make changes in 2024 that last, not superficial New Year resolutions.
Paul wrote to the church he had founded in Corinth and the house churches in Achaia (A-Chi-A). Paul was in Macedonia when he wrote 2 Corinthians in response to good news from Titus that the church had repented and longed to see Paul again. The book of 2 Corinthians is quite relevant today, especially for those who feel called to Christian ministry. As we transition from 2023 to 2024, it’s a great time to allow this letter from Paul to help shape our goals and resolutions as individuals and the church as a whole, so our message today will center on how we can do just that.
Before you listen to the message, you are encouraged to go to our website and download the lesson bulletin for this message, dated December 31, 2023. The publication contains questions to reflect on as an individual, couple, or small group. You can find them on the home page by clicking the Bulletins and Lesson Plans tab. Today we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit, Pentecost Sunday, and Ascension Sunday. We unpack Psalm 68:32-35 and Acts 1:8-11. Why are Christians so reluctant to change, yet they change everything else about their lives? We will attempt to unravel the mystery. What is the true purpose of discipleship, and has it changed? Should it change?
