“We are told to let our light shine, and if it does, we won’t need to tell anybody it does. Lighthouses don’t fire cannons to call attention to their shining – they just shine.” ~ Dwight L. Moody
People experience Easter in many different ways. For most Christians, it’s time for celebration and to sing “Hallelujah.” For some Christians, it’s a duty and possibly even a struggle. This class of Christians is often referred to as the “Creasters,” meaning they only go to church on Christmas and Easter. For many non-Christians, Easter is still a family tradition of getting together to eat, fellowship, and have fun. There are very few people that Easter doesn’t play a significant role in their history; it may be a religious celebration, family tradition, or memorable in some mysterious way.
Now that winter is over; we are starting to enjoy the smell of grass, birds’ sounds, and the landscape’s elegance. Spring promotes life and a new beginning. The light of the sun gets longer each day, generating a sense of possibility and hope. Easter represents rebirth, new beginnings, and the light of God. Jesus was victorious over death and offers the world eternal life and freedom from the power of sin for those who believe. If you are a person of faith, your faith is not confirmed by your appearance at church on Easter Sunday but rather by the light of the Holy Spirit dwelling in your soul. As everyone around you witnesses the light of the earth this spring, let them also witness the light of God beaming from the pores of your entire being. Friends, Easter is a wonderful time to let your light shine bright, so don’t procrastinate; show your light for the world to see.
Lord, Easter is a special day for all of creation, whether we realize it or not. Because of the resurrection of Jesus, salvation is possible for all of creation. Thank You for being the true meaning of Easter. Please give me the willingness to let the light of my soul shine bright today. Allow my light to illuminate the path for others to find their way to You. In Your Spirit and Name, I pray these things. May Your will not mine, always materialize, now and forever, Amen.
