There is a golden rule in spirituality; it’s more about action than knowledge. It’s also imperative to understand obedience outperforms self-sacrifice. When you find yourself off the spiritual beam, you can trace it back to a moment in time where you ignored the call to action through obedience, which caused you to fall off the spiritual beam.
You discern God’s will for your life by reading God’s Word and putting on the whole armor of God. Through the spiritual practice of reading God’s Word, you gain knowledge. The trap of gaining knowledge is simply this; if you memorize scripture or portions of the Bible but never put it into action, what good has it done you? Knowledge and action go together; one doesn’t exist without the other. The same holds for following God’s will. You can engage God’s will through obedience or self-sacrifice. It best to discern God’s will through obedience than by self-sacrifice.
