In our readings today, we discover what becoming fully surrendered to following God looks like through the lives of Abraham, Issac, Rebekah, Rebekah’s brother, Rebekah’s parents, Matthew, Ephron, the paralytic, etc. These devoted followers reveal God’s equation for spiritual mathematics: Seek + Surrender + Listen + Prayer + Obedienance = Wisdom and Countless Blessings. They put the spiritual ahead of the materialistic world, and they overcame, persevered, and prospered. They all applied wisdom therapy to their fatally flawed lives and found victory over the power of darkness and the bondage of self.
Proverbs 3:7-8 (CEB). Don’t consider yourself wise.
Fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
8 Then your body will be healthy
and your bones strengthened.
“When the spiritual malady is overcome, we straighten out mentally and physically.” ~ William G. Wilson
The Gospel of Matthew shares the story of when Jesus saw a man named Matthew sitting in an H&R Block tax office. Jesus said to the man, “follow me.” So Matthew rose and followed Jesus (Matthew 9:9-10). If you want to feel and live the best way possible in this frail human experience called life, you need to apply wisdom therapy to your life. Matthew made his commitment to following Jesus, not about Matthew. On the contrary, Matthew made his commitment to following Jesus’ personal. He took the prescription of wisdom therapy that Jesus offered, applied it to his life, and he never looked back.

Prayer
O Lord God of Abraham, please grant me success with applying Your prescription for wisdom therapy to my life. I wish to bring health to my flesh and strength to my bones. Lord, please help me muster the willingness of Your disciple Matthew, to follow you in a personal way, not for individual gain or notoriety, but to become a trusted servant entirely devoted to Your only Son Jesus Christ. In Your Spirit and Name, I pray these things. Amen
