“God’s plan for enlarging His kingdom is so simple – one person telling another about the Savior. Yet we’re busy and full of excuses. Just remember, someone’s eternal destiny is at stake. The joy you’ll have when you meet that person in heaven will far exceed any discomfort you felt in sharing the gospel.” ~ Charles Stanley
The year is 2021, and we are still amid a world-wide pandemic, COVID-19, to be exact. My wife and I are traveling over two hours away to get our first vaccination this morning. During this past year, how many people have you talked to about the pandemic? How many social media posts have you shared with others telling them how you have managed life through these challenging times? Have you been one of the people communicating with others where they can get a COVID test or obtain the vaccine, literally going to any lengths to encourage others to be safe and take care of themselves? We go the extra mile to tell others what we are passionate about, but why do we hesitate when it comes to telling the world about God?
Telling the world about God is more challenging than being with God, forgiving others, serving others, and giving our time, talents, and finances. Why? Why do we hesitate to tell others of the most significant relationship and experience in our lives? The answer: Extreme self-centeredness, all though most people will be quick to reject that claim. We struggle to share with others about God because it may cause friction for us and others. We don’t want to be uncomfortable or make anyone else uncomfortable. If they ask us about our faith, we will share, but we don’t want to impose unless they ask. The truth is we can have harmony with God and friction with people, or we can have harmony with people and friction with God, but we can’t have it both ways. We can’t hold back telling the world about God because we are afraid. Through our testimony, the Holy Spirit will bring others to God, save lives, and transform the world. How selfish would it be to know where to get a COVID-19 shot and not tell others? To not share with others what God has meant for your life is nothing short of gross negligence.
The challenge for today is to write down five people who don’t have a relationship with God, then contact one of the five, TODAY, and share with them your experience, strength, and hope for what God has meant for your life. Then make plans to do the same with the other four on your list. This exercise will bless everyone, and God will be smiling ear to ear. You can do this; just get energized about telling others about God, like you have been sharing with others about the pandemic and your political bent. Once you face the fear, it will become easy to share the best news you could ever share with another human being. So get after it, and know the Holy Spirit is with you every step of the way.
Lord, thank You for impacting my life with Your presence, grace, mercy, and love. Please remove from me the pride and fear that paralyze me when sharing the best news ever with the world. Our relationship is the most significant experience I have to share with others; please help me get out of the way of myself and share it with the world. In Your Spirit and Name, I pray these things. May Your will not mine always materialize, now and forever, Amen.
