“Pride takes many forms, but spiritual pride is the most grievous. To become proud of spiritual gifts or leadership position is to forget that all we have is from God; all the position we occupy is God’s appointment.” ~ J. Oswald Sanders
Living a kingdom-centered life is a tall order. One of the greatest temptations of living a spiritual life is to find yourself on a spiritual hightop. The danger of climbing to the top of the mountain is you start to believe you are good while most people are not. This mindset can cause kingdom people to become casual about the exhibition of their faith while trying to fit in with the world around them. The delusion sets in that it’s okay to behave in a worldly sense because we are spiritually secure on top of the mountain. This sort of compromise causes us to slip into a false sense of safety and security. What ends up happening is our lips become loose, vulgarity, profanity, and gossip find their way from deep inside. Lust rears its ugly head, anger begins to heat up in our souls, and fear rules our minds. We assume we are okay because our flag is firmly planted on top of the mountain, or so we believe. When caught up attempting to impress the world, we find ourselves talking out both sides of our mouths. This behavior is nonsense because, as kingdom people, our character must illuminate the Spirit of God 24/7/365, regardless of the company we keep. It’s easy for our character defects to thrive in the world system. Beware of speaking from a spiritual hightop with your heart fixed on pleasing the world and your mind in the gutter. We must always strive to remain kingdom-centered; God wouldn’t have it any other way.

Prayer
Lord, You are my Rock and my Savior. You get all the glory for my spiritual life because I have done nothing to deserve it. Please remove from my soul the temptation to want to fit in with the world. Please grant me the courage to remain kingdom-centered, allowing myself to be in the world but not of the world. In Your Spirit and Name, I pray these things. May your will always materialize, now and forever, Amen.
