What does it mean to pray without ceasing? Does this mean we never stop to do other things, or does this mean that we need to learn to multi-task? How often are we supposed to pray? Should we pray only in the morning and before we go to sleep? What if we only pray while others are around, but rarely if ever, pray in private? Is it okay to pray if we are not on our knees or in a proper posture? What are we supposed to be praying for when we pray? Does God even care if we pray? All of these questions are important regarding the subject of prayer.
How we view, God will determine our relationship with God and our commitment to prayer and meditation. If we view God as an authority figure, then prayer will be drudgery and duty. It would be like something we have to do. But if we approach God like a child does a parent, it will change our prayer and meditation. For most children, it’s hard to quit talking. Even though we know our children’s needs before they ask, we still want our children to talk to us and ask us for things. The same goes with our heavenly parent God. God knows everything we need, and God has our back if we forget to ask for something, but God wants to hear from us. Are we persistently talking with God throughout the day about everything? Who we turn to in the time of our trials and low spots proves who we trust and lean on for power, understanding, comfort, and direction for our lives.
