On January 1, 2021, The Clemson Tigers and Ohio State Buckeyes squared off in the Allstate Sugar Bowl. The two quarterbacks Travis Lawrence and Justin Fields, led the field for their respected teams. They both survived many hits. Justin Fields took a significant hit to the ribs but played hurt the rest of the game. He persevered for his teammates and gave all the glory to God. We will all be hurt at different times throughout our lives. What determines how well we will persevere during these trials is our ability to play life hurt. Lord, grant me the stamina to trudge the broad highway while learning to play life hurt.
The beginning of 2021 presents the world with many challenges. COVID-19 is still rearing its ugly head, and millions of people have been hurt because of this nasty virus. Only time will tell how well we play the game of life being hurt. We have been hurt by the loss of life, the loss of quality of life, loss of careers, loss of finances, and the loss of countless memories. We are not the first generation to experience a worldwide plague. History helps us understand how our ancestors played life hurt and persevered in the end. Lord, may the entire world overcome the pain and suffering we have all experienced. Please grant us the tenacity to keep pushing forward despite the many challenges we face as Your people.
