“Try and understand what part you have to play in the world in which you live. There’s more to life than you know, and it’s all happening out there. Discover what part you can play and then go for it.” ~ Ian Mckellen
There is no doubt God made humans for something more than to eat, sleep, play, reproduce, work, and poop. But what? Why are we here? What’s our purpose? What’s next? What’s the meaning of life? Every human being has these exact questions, and we can only discover the answer in the world of the Spirit.
God created us with eternity in our souls. God made us for something more, and discovering that something involves mystery and effort. We will not find our purpose solely by looking in the visible world; we will need to explore the invisible world, the Spirit world, to find the answers to life’s BIG questions.
How do we discover the supernatural in a world we cannot see? It requires three things from us:
- Honestly
- Open-mindedness
- Willingness
The supernatural and eternity are in our DNA. We were born with these divine characteristics, and God’s Spirit is deep down inside every one of us; we must discover it! But how? It’s like a spiritual game of “hide and seek.” If we pursue the supernatural with honesty, open-mindedness, and willingness, we will find the Spirit deep within our soul. “Search, and you shall find.” (Matthew 7:7 – CEB)
Our exploration of the world of the Spirit requires prayer, imagination, and persistence on our part. God doesn’t withhold His love from those who search for Him. We soon discover that God calls us according to His purpose, not our own. (Romans 8:28) As we engage the Spirit world, we will find our real purpose in this world and the next.
God made us for something more than living for ourselves. God has given us many instructions for living this human life, and none more important than the love commandment. Which is to love God, love others as ourselves, and help change the world through practicing love and service in all of our affairs.
My Creator, thank You for creating me in Your image. I don’t clearly understand how created in Your image applies to me, nor, what I am supposed to do with this knowledge, so I am asking for Your truth to be revealed deep inside me. God, would you please show yourself to me, and help me discover, understand, and live into Your purpose for my life? In Your Spirit and Name, I pray these things. May Your will not mine always materialize, now and forever. Amen.
