“In all chaos, there is a cosmos; in all disorder, a secret order.” ~ Carl Jung
We have all begged the question, “how could this happening to me?” more times than we care to count. The truth is life is unfair at times, and sometimes it’s downright evil. Our human instinct is to blame others when chaos lands on our front porch and consumes our world. But is it truly chaos? It’s all a matter of perspective. How about when an insect falls into the spider’s web? Who is experiencing the chaos, the insect or the spider? There are two ways to consider chaos, and depending on how you choose will determine how you respond to the chaos in your life.
- The universe came into being by chance, so chaos is merely a part of the circle of life and the evolutionary process. It’s the process of natural selection. Your world may be upside down, but for another, it’s an opportunity; it’s survival of the fittest. When life is hard, well, too bad, suck it up, buttercup, or get swept out to sea. Hopefully, you have enough worldly connections and resources to ride out the storms of life.
- The universe came into being by a supernatural source, a.k.a. God, and with it comes a moral law, the kingdom of God, and the mysterious experience of the hereafter. Through the process of creation, humankind, created in the image of this supernatural power and gifted with free will, chose to undermine God and attempt to become God themselves. Because of this spiritual fallout, creation became corrupted, and the result is chaos on planet earth. Power, glory, and prestige are the motivating forces that drive humanity in this fallen world. When humans live on self-propulsion, there will be winners and losers. Life is sweet when you are winning, but when you are losing, it’s sheer chaos.
If your choice is number one, then be as fit as possible so you can survive this world for as long as possible because there is nothing to look forward to once this life comes to an end. But, if your choice is number two, you have hope, not only for this life but also for the next. This supernatural power that created the universe can calm the chaos in your life and provides a way to the hereafter. If you seek this power and firmly knock on God’s door, the door will open, and the chaos in your life will begin to cease, despite your present circumstances and what’s taking place in the world.
So, what’s your choice, to live a self-centered life or a God-centered life? I suggest you at least give option two a fair chance, and if after a reasonable amount of time it’s not working for you, you can always go back to option one, and the world will gladly refund your misery.
My Creator, self-reliance is my Achilles heel. The desire to live on self-propulsion is tremendous and taking its toll on my life. My God, today I surrender my will and life over to You, and mercifully and humbly ask that Your receive me as I am. Would you please take away the chaos in my life and allow me to be in Your presence. I desire nothing more than to experience Your supernatural joy in this life and the hereafter. In Your Spirit and Name, I pray these things. May Your will not mine always materialize, now and forever. Amen.
