God stands for holiness. Everything God does is centered around God’s eternal purpose, which is 100% holy. Kingdom salvation is centered on us becoming holy. Because we are unholy, the only way we can become holy is to have the Spirit of God living inside us. When our spirit becomes immersed in God’s spirit, only then do we start the spiritual process of holiness.
What is so incredible about the grace of God is that even though we are fatally flawed, we are still invited to be in a personal relationship with God. We will not be able to be in the full presence of God until we are holy because God is holy. This reality means that we will be in the refinement process until our souls are pure and made holy. This sanctification process will not be completed on this side of the afterlife, so this means that even after death, our soul will continue to be shaped in some mysterious way before we can be in the full presence of God. I am not suggesting purgatory, but scripture is clear that we will not be in the presence of God until we go through the fire and are made holy.¹ Why not get busy starting the holiness process on this side of death, so what comes next in the afterlife won’t take as long for us to be in the full presence of God.

Prayer
Lord, I know You are holy in every way. Please refine my soul and prepare me in every way to be with You in paradise. Only You can make this possible, so today, I am turning my will and life over to You to start the holiness process for my life. I know I must participate in this process, so please remove every single flaw in my character and hurdle in life so that I may fully submit to Your Holiness. In Your Spirit and Name, I pray these things. May Your will and not mine be done always and forever. Amen.
