Have you ever heard the expression “God will move mountains for you, but God will also expect you to bring a shovel?” Another way to say it, “humans must learn to participate in their own salvation.” Because of human beings’ lack of faith and extreme self-centeredness, we lust for God’s blessing and intervention for our lives, but we want God to do all the work. Our free will causes us to say things like, “if God is omnipotent (meaning all-powerful), then why doesn’t God just fix me?” The reason is God has chosen to create all of creation, especially human beings, for relationship. This form of bilateral creation implies that everything in the circle of life is related to something else. This process is always in motion; whether our perception will allow us to witness it or not, the covenant is waiting and ready for you to say yes. It takes two to say yes to a relationship, and God had already said yes before you were ever born.
“WHY DOESN’T GOD SAVE ME?” This question is screamed all around the world many times every day. The reality is that God has saved you, but you have failed to enter into the bilateral covenant relationship called salvation. Our free will grants us say-so. You get to choose to enter into this covenant or not. If you fail to enter into this relationship, like Satan, you will fall prey to evil, and darkness will become your master. Only when you enter into this bilateral covenant with God can you have victory over evil and darkness. This doesn’t mean you won’t experience evil, but it does mean you can experience hope, peace, joy, and love despite evil because of God’s love, grace, mercy, and protection. By staying committed to God’s covenant of salvation, you will live forever in the kingdom with God. The best news is that by entering into God’s bilateral covenant, you will start to experience the kingdom of God and salvation here on earth, regardless of your present circumstances.

Prayer
Creator of all things. You created me for a personal relationship with You, yet I still question and doubt that I am truly saved. Lord, remove from me the webs that tangle my thoughts, twist my perception, and cause me to spend countless hours worrying about myself instead of loving You and my neighbor. Please grant me the willingness to accept Your Word for my life at face value, so I can enjoy our personal relationship and help others to do the same. Through Your Spirit and in Your precious Name, I pray these things, Amen.
