How often do you dream? Do some of your dreams disturb you because they seem out of character, or at times even evil in nature? In our reading today, Joseph has the ability to dream prophecy, but not only is he able to dream it, but he can also interpret it too. His brothers envy him, and his father doesn’t know what to make of it, but he loves his son, so he listens and tries to understand. There are several stories in the bible about God weaving dreams in the minds of people called to do kingdom duties.
We are quick to dismiss our dreams, but we shouldn’t, and we must share our dreams, including the good, the bad, and the ugly dreams. The mind is where spiritual warfare is waged, and if we allow the dreams from the dark side to stick around too long, it won’t be long before it’s no longer a dream but an act we commit. We become what we think about most, and our dreams influence our thinking. So the next time you have an out-of-bounds sort of dream, be sure to share it with a trusted friend so that you can release the power it has over you.
“There are some people who live in a dream world, and there are some who face reality, and then there are those who turn one into the other.”
~ Douglas H. Everett
Gary Wright wrote a hit song titled “Dream Weaver” in December 1972. George Harrison and lent him a book titled “Yogi,” which contained the poem God, God, God! by Paramhansa Yogananda. The poem written by Paramhansa Yogananda inspired him, with the words “the idea of the mind weaving dreams.”Both God and the Dark Side can weave dreams through our minds. Our dreams are something we should take seriously, all of them, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Sharing them can help make sense of them and help us live into them, especially those that allow our lives to shine in the kingdom through love and service.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before. ~ Edgar Allen Poe

Poem God, God, God! By Paramahansa Yogananda
Of nightly separation from Thee
I taste thee and mentally say
God, God, God!No matter where I go, the spotlight of my mind
Ever keeps turning on Thee;
And in the battle dim of activity my silent war cry
Is ever;
God, God, God!When boisterous storms of trials shriek
And worries howl at me,
I drown their noises, loudly chanting
God, God, God!
When my mind weaves dreams
With treads of memories,
Then on that magic cloth I do emboss;
God, God, God!
Ever night, in time of deepest sleep,
My peace dreams and calls; Joy! Joy! Joy!
And my Joy comes singing evermore;
God, God, God!
In waking, eating, working, dreaming, sleeping,
Serving, meditating, chanting, divinely loving,
My soul constantly hums, unheard by any;
God, God, God!
Father, I thank You that You bless us with Dreams and Visions of the plans that You have for us, and Your Word tells us that we don’t have to fret or be anxious for anything, for You know exactly what you are doing. Hallelujah!
You said, Lord, that you know the thoughts that You think toward us, and Your thoughts are of peace and not of evil, but Your plans are to give us the future we are hoping for.
I thank You Lord that according to Your Word, “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard… and No mind has imagined what You Lord, have prepared for those who love you…”
Thank You, Lord, for the new things you are doing in our lives, and I thank You for the favor that You show Your children every day. According to Your Word, Your Favor surrounds us like a shield. Hallelujah!
I pray, Lord, that beginning today, you will give us the wisdom and the grace to let You be the One to direct our steps (Pro.3:6) so that we can be in a position to receive all You have for us. For as long as You are The One directing our steps, I know we will always be in the right place at the right time.
I pray, Lord, that we will no longer be conformed to this world and following after the ways of the world, but we will be following after You and seeking You with all our hearts. Thank You, Lord, that it is true unto us according to Thy Word. In Jesus Name, Amen.
